Taylor Lindsey is an award-winning commercial and residential property developer established in 1945 in Lincoln. It holds the NHBC’s ‘A1’ rating, given only to builders who deliver consistent quality.
The company is responsible for some of Lincoln and the surrounding area’s most significant developments, such as Teal Park, Roman Gate and Brunel Park. These locations have attracted investment from Siemens, Jaguar Landrover and Travis Perkins.
Residential homes are exemplified by locations such as Park Hill, a set of 187 prestigious 2-5 bedroom high-specification homes, set in the picturesque village of Quarrington.
When we started working with Taylor Lindsey, they had three ageing WordPress websites: commercial, residential and a stand-alone website for the Teal Park development.
The sites failed to present the brand in a way that reflected its status and reputation for quality. Having three websites gave a very disjointed user experience, with clunky hand-offs between the business divisions.
From a CMS integration viewpoint, the WordPress installations hadn’t been developed and configured to assist ongoing work such as loading new developments, projects, and residential maps. This situation made Taylor Lindsey more reliant on external developer assistance for day-to-day content management.
Having assessed the situation comprehensively, we decided that Taylor Lindsey required a complete ground-up redesign and rebuild. The new website would combine all three sites into one easy-to-navigate site, making traversing between departments and locations intuitive and pooling website visitors into one.
One area of specific focus for redevelopment was the interactive maps, which showed the details of available houses within the residential development location maps, of which there are also printed versions. Each plot shows the house type, price, specifications, links to virtual tours, and downloadable brochures.
This area was difficult and slow to update with new maps on the previous website, requiring significant developer time and associated costs. It was also laborious to update when Taylor Lindsey sold properties.
The new version we built as part of the redevelopment can be easily updated in a fraction of the time and is significantly more user-friendly for content managers and end users, especially on mobile, where screen space is at a premium.
We continue to support Taylor Lindsey with UK-based zero-carbon hosting and maintain the site with controlled updates and further development as needed.
