Lincolnshire Life

The brief: Create a new website that allows Lincolnshire Life's editorial team to deliver content online and redevelop the Lincolnshire Shop to allow third-party sellers

Background

Founded in 1961, Lincolnshire Life is the county’s longest established journal. Originally being produced quarterly, demand soon ensured that it began to appear monthly. More recently, Lincolnshire Life’s website was used primarily to preview sections of the magazine online – all the content, from articles about local lifestyle, culture, heritage to recipes and events derived from the printed publication.

POP was commissioned to produce a new website that would allow online content to be more independent from the magazine and to redevelop the publication’s e-commerce facility, the Lincolnshire Shop. The new shop was to be more sophisticated, allowing third-parties to sell Lincolnshire produce and books through the same interface as the publisher’s own products.

Authentic Lincolnshire

We chose POP from a number of agencies as they really understood what we wanted to achieve with the new website – and delivered it

POP redesigned the website creating a look and feel that is modern and accessible, without losing Lincolnshire Life’s important heritage. The new website was constructed within the Expression Engine CMS (Content Management System), enabling Lincolnshire Life’s editorial and studio teams to manage the content in-house and develop the website in its own right, rather than solely reusing content from the magazine. Once built, POP trained Lincolnshire Life’s editorial and studio teams in how to maintain the website, producing bespoke training videos for easy reference.

POP also created the ‘Authentic Lincolnshire’ sub-brand, which is applied to the online shop and a partnership information pack that outlines the proposition to third-party suppliers. The Authentic Lincolnshire shop some already hosts some great examples of Lincolnshire produce and gifts, from Stokes teas and coffees, to handmade bags by Carlie’s Cupboard, with lots more to come.

Since launch the website has steady risen in popularity – measured in both traffic volume and sales from the Authentic Lincolnshire shop.
